I bring you warm greetings in Jesus Christ, God’s beloved Son, our Lord and Master, as I welcome you to the website of St. Matthew’s (Ang.) Church, Nkpogu Deanery. Diocese of Niger Delta North, Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion).
As you will discover from the contents of this site, St. Matthew’s is not just your ordinary run of the mill congregation. St. Matthew’s is a congregation born by divine will and action with a clear vision and mission; a vision and mission to spark the fire of revival in existing congregations and to be involved in, and challenge the Christian Church to global missions and evangelization.
In pursuance of this, right from the on set in October, 1987, the emphasis has been on winning souls for Jesus Christ, building them up and equipping them for effective kingdom life and service.
To the glory of God Almighty, St. Matthew’s has affected countless number of lives for Jesus Christ, impacted many congregations in Nigeria and abroad and also been involved in Church planting, in Nigeria and Abroad. Further more, the congregation has raised missionaries, pastors and Bishops! To God be the glory for ever and ever, Amen!
Our basic motivational text in St. Matthew’s is Isaiah 43:19, where God says, “Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” (KJV). Indeed, we have seen God do new things in individual lives, families, congregations and even communities! God is still in the business of doing new things, as the prophet Jeremiah testifies in Lamentations 3:22,23, “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” KJV)
Welcome again to our website; may God bless, prosper, enrich and challenge you, as you avail yourself of the information in this site. You are invited to partner with us in the great and important task of missions, reaching out to the Nations with the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and thereby, hastening His triumphant return! Hallelujah!!!
God bless you.
